Pandavan Para
The place derives the name from the legendary Pandavas (the Five Brothers) that we come across in the great Indian epic 'Mahabharata'. Pandavan Para or the Rock of the Pandavas, located at Urukunnu near Thenmala in Kollam District, is an ideal picnic spot. On the valley beneath the hill, one finds an imposing temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located on a pristine land.
Here one can marvel at the different camera frames of Thenmala including the adjoining hills, woods, the Kallada Dam, the lake behind and the railway line that passes by the mountain and over arched stone bridges. At the summit, two pedestal rocks make you look in awe in the north and towards the south the pacifying sight of a temple perfect the visual feast.

Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. Situated on the southern part of the Western Ghats, this sanctuary is set amidst luxurious greenery and is acclaimed for its rich biodiversity. The terrain is mostly covered by tropical evergreen and semi evergreen forests.

Thenmala Eco Tourism
Thenmala is another attraction for those who love to explore Nature. This is the first planned eco-tourism destination in India. The lush green terrain of Thenmala, dotted with forests and rubber plantations, was selected by the World Tourism Organization as one of the best eco-friendly tourism projects. It spans over ten eco-tourism spots that cover the hill ranges of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts.
